Overview
PairStreak is a private social app for couples. The product is built around a daily photo-sharing ritual: users exchange one photo per day, maintain shared streaks, receive reminders, and keep a private timeline of memories together.
Problem
Most social products are public, noisy, and optimized for a feed. PairStreak is intentionally private and ritual-based — one shared moment a day, rather than another timeline to perform on.
My role
Senior Software Engineer at Mailmunch (09/2023 – Present). Engineering the daily photo ritual, streak, reminder, and private timeline experience.
Technical approach
The product concentrates on a small set of high-frequency interactions: daily photo exchange, streaks, reminders, and a private memory timeline. That requires reliable mobile delivery, notification timing, and a focused UI rather than a broad social feature set.
Architecture
- Client: React Native / Expo
- Notifications: push notifications (Notifee), used for reminders
Technology stack
Key features
- One photo exchanged per day
- Shared streaks
- Reminders
- Private timeline of memories
Challenges
Ritual over feed
The product has to make a single daily exchange feel complete, which puts pressure on reminder timing, photo flow, and streak continuity.
Solutions
A small, high-frequency loop
The documented product is one photo per day, shared streaks, reminders, and a private timeline — not a public social feed.
Outcome
PairStreak is a live product at pairstreak.com, built around a private daily photo ritual, shared streaks, reminders, and a memory timeline.
